The old ways do not work. During a May 2024 Zoom call, Derek Nobrega, retired senior officer in Canada’s military after serving 26 years and 13 years in the intelligence sector, said Canadian Senators were bought. Each of the 105 Senators was offered between $3 and $300 million of which 15 declined.
God works in mysterious ways. We are all linked. Its one thing to be bought off. It's another to understand what they bought. Never ever ever ever give up.
I was absolutely horrified, yet not surprised to see government secretly pushing a United Nations style pandemic and emergency agreement. The bill is chugging through parliament, while many are unaware of its existence. Agenda 2030 seems to give government more of an excuse to be loyal their United Nations and the World Economic Forum allegiances. When the general public find out about policies it is late in the ball game and the politicians lie more to cover their tracks. On a side note, I do recall awhile back Leslyn Lewis talking about stopping the World Health Organization's pandemic agreement. It is interesting how Canadian politicians are on the verge of allowing the United Nations walk all over the average Canadians. Oops, that must be the meaning of Agenda 2030. It is a totalitarian state.
Unfortunately, unless you can get "everyone" to agree,—which we both know you can't—saying "just say no" isn't going to cut it. Once bills like this are passed there is little to nothing you can do about them, so unless you are advocating sedition (which would be rather ill advised) we need to actually stop draconian bills before they pass into law.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised; the only question remaining would be how quickly they'll try to transition to their joyous "alternatives." Incidentally, in case you didn't know, one of the major component of the exoskeleton of insects (clearly one of the likely suspects for their "alternative protein") is chitin, which conveniently happens to be poisonous to us "useless eaters".
It is obviously hard to inquire about that which you know nothing, as would be the case with anything that is discussed behind closed door. Nevertheless, you could discuss the status of on-going government business with your MP and/or make a freedom of information request. Alternatively, you could watch whatever relevant proceeding are televised, if any. Consulting Hansard's is another possibility. Unfortunately, none of those suggestions really address your question specifically, but without access to insider information about what is going on you're not likely to do much better.
LawyerLisa, I agree: C-293 appears to be quite pernicious (typical of many recently introduced bills). As with most, how Bill C-293 is to be interpreted will determine its ambit; but if C-293 is interpreted broadly—as it almost certainly will be—its impact will be far reaching. Referring to the section you mention, Section 3 (2) (l) (iii), regarding "alternative protein," aims to , "promote commercial activities that can help reduce pandemic risk, including the production of alternative proteins..." Is this to mean that "alternative proteins" (however that is specifically supposed to be defined) will only be promoted for those who might be interested, or does it mean that "alternative proteins" will be promoted because many, in not most or all, non-"alternative proteins," used as food sources, will be actively phased out? The former interpretation would be fairly benign; the latter, not so much. I suspect that I could guess which most people here would consider to be the more accurate scenario. C-293 has already had its third reading, back in June, so if you want to act on this you'll need to do so quickly.
You make some great points about Bill C-293. I think the most important aspects that it is from the UN and the Government of Canada has not bee. transparent.
Thanks. Unfortunately, it would appear that many, if not most, of the significant bills that have been introduced lately have a supranational "flavour" to them.

Just say no

And there's not allowing traditional meat on the shelf.

I am just wondering what to do when the government is quiet on their goings-ons?

1st reading at the Senate. And they are back in session September 17.

Edwin, I like the idea of throwing rocks at people who are doing harm. This bill will truly cause harm.
Yes, all hands on deck.
Send a message, I'm not eating bugs, and I am throwing rocks!
