The problem with gaming this out - is the outcome depends on certain assumptions in the programming of the game. As a long time wargamer - I mean long time decades - I came in 26th place at the World Championship Diplomacy tournament held in Chapel Hill in 1990 and I wasn't even on a team and was only informed shortly before the tournament commenced - at the end of the day - when it comes to logistics, proximity is critical and Taiwan is just across the Straits from China and there is no way China would be prevented from prevailing if they decided to go after that place.

What is the hubris makes the elitist dimwits in the us of a think they are the hegemony rules the world? - when, tis obvious to any wargamer with experience: all evidence ALL EVIDENCE - most definitively especially lately proves otherwise.

Not kidding around - in the Diplomacy tournament - a fine wargame if there ever was one - simple rules and no dice - it was the "World Championship" for that year hosted by a fella named David who went to high-school in the same town as I did - not shitting around - that is some serious gaming....you ever play the game called 3rd Reich? I betcha if I was on one or the other blue team, red or white in these exercises, my team would have better chances - and all that speaks to is - you can't game it out - it depends on the players - and tis obvious - the us of a in dc specially have been invaded and subsumed by dimwit idgits!

These exercises are wishful thinking futility - cause it is obvious - if China wants Taiwan - Australia for that matter - there ain't a damn thing ole uncle sam long in the tooth will be able to do about it - it will be most evident after a carrier or two gets sunk by hypersonic missiles - the technology of which - the pathetic military in the us of a playing effing games day after day - wasting so much money - is SO FAR behind.

Tis evident.

Game over.

ps - correction: "lawyerlisa".....what these games can't model proper is quick decision by serious game players who play to WIN. I play to win. Not kidding around - but I sure as hell ain't looking for conflict - why are the dimwits in dc doing as such and wasting so much in their hubristic efforts that are a calamity upon humanity - could be they could give a shit about the children - if so, that means WAR
