My wee city has seen many many street turned into two way, with bike lanes that NO ONE USES. Millions $ 20,000,000 + spent on bicyclse lanes that NO ONE USES for a city of 40,000 inhabitants. No charging stations, no bicycle safe storage. The town is dying. No work, just newly wed and nearly dead. The nice winter weather attracts retirees from all over canada. Keeps the real estate value up but we can't even get peeps to work. But is anyone paying attention. Nope the only people who acknowledge this is happening is those who were intelligent and independent enough to say no thanks to a new jab. The rest are completely asleep.
Doug Ford might have a reader sending him my stack. He just declared he's taking bike lanes out on University, Bloor and one other street. The administrative globalist deep state needs a culling from our governments.
Maybe. That is a positive. But I am a skeptic of everything. Look how Alberta new premier has turned out. Likely Ford has a better plan or some big wig declared those streets are required for wall street. Change the smaller streets so they become impenetrable by cars. 2030. Bugs unt nussing
Road dieting has been going on in Europe since at least the second half of the 2000s. Western Europe keeps destroying its own economy, since manufacturers will just offshore to locations where they get workers and raw materials in and products out, so essentially regions that do not diet roads.
Good point too about the "congestion", Lisa. Another covert nudge to erode the desire to drive, as is leaving roadways in increasing disrepair, also creating more wear and tear on vehicles. It's all insidious.
