Lent has begun. It is a form of fasting. Or how I think of it. 40 days of our Lord's torment in the desert where He battled Satan and temptation.
Chocolate. As a child I'd narrow my gaze surrounding the days before Lent. Will it be Chocolate. Can I give it up. We never had cookies or candy in my house anyways. But it felt unfathomable. Like I might chance upon a cake for a party and it would be Chocolate.
I wonder how similar it is to Ramadan.
I woke up tonight and thought I'd share it is despair that I am going to battle for Lent.
I wonder how you feel. It's been a tough time these past years. For so many in team humanity.
The isolation. The iatrogenic actions of government. The division and hatred within society. Now also horrific wars here and on the cusp.
Moral courage will never come from an understanding alone. I know I try to make sense of what I see and interpret it together with you.
But it also necessary to fortify your soul. Words are interesting that way. That they can convey the grandest of sentiments.
Let's try shall we.
40 days of Hope. 40 days where we deny despair.
It can't be easy for many. I've communicated with a vaccine injured man in Australia. His body battling on. His heart racing to excess at rest.
A now friend at a Quebec University persecuted for his positions during covid.
Across the world people are reaching out.
Muslim women I met who are frightened to send their children to schools.
Arab Christians who try to make sense to what Canada has become.
A Jewish woman who gives her time to buoy others and devotes her efforts to raising all up in awareness.
A.muslim solar who writes and shores up those in need in his community.
A Christian man who works in his business to try to keep an economy while a war on gdp wages.
Excellent writers on substack everyday taking on climate.
Doctors an nurses speaking.
A friend in Tennessee taking on the WHO.
An acquaintance in Texas taking on the border.
Lawyers.
Those in the Life movement linking the antilife policies beyond abortion.
My dream or vision I had on Pentecost was that the push for peri natal 2nd trimester third trimester and late term abortion was because the ‘right’ to abortion would next be the Government’s. That is why they want late term abortion legal. They want to see it, so they can take the child. It is their Right they draft. It is a complete war on women and family. See they call it a woman’s right.
If abortion is legal at 9 months and after birth it can be a control and a means of speech regulation. This is just a trend.
Abortion like everything else will be flipped into the rights to.maintain a baby. That license to parent. Or that push now for the state to raise our children. All the same.
The right QR code that we must rail against.
So Hope.
Already you are on team humanity. You have decided just that. Irrespective of your religion if you have one, that there is a morality that calls you.
Free trade is the ability to trade with your neighbors without government. They took that and morphed it.
Didn't they.
Game theory says that to reverse course enough of us have to get in the game.
Well you'll need some hope in your heart. With me. Together let's try to kick despair to the curb. Keep a little space in your heart for the possibility of God. You don't have to believe. Just open the door to a possibility that humanity is indeed joined by good.
We cannot recognize all the evil in the world without it dawning on us how good the good must also be. If the evil is that evil. The corollary is also true.
I'm going back to sleep. When next I visit this post with coffee in hand, I hope you have read and decided for hope.
It's for a purpose. Hope is how we win. I don't know why that is true. But it is. So shove a smile on your face, a song in your heart and when you speak others will have to follow.
Darkness grows.
Be the light. There is just no place for darkness in the presence of light. That you understand. It's observation that says it is the case.
Spiritually it must be thus too.
Fear is his tool. You know whom I speak of.
so hope
must be ours.
TAKE DOWN THE BEAST!
What a beautiful idea! We shouldn’t give into despair, that means they have won! The more we greet others with a smile on our face and love in our hearts the more wonderful this world becomes! We had a neighbour who was principal at a nearby school, she had a smile and a heart for everyone as big as outdoors. When people are searching for happiness, it’s what we give out to others in thoughts words and deeds that comes back to us! Thank you Lisa for all you do for others! May you be blessed! As a side note my neighbour read Max Lucado, who has such uplifting books about how to greet others with love!
Obama ruined the word Hope for me. All I can hear is Hope and Change. He was and I believe still instrumental in the destruction we are experiencing. Everyday I release despair, it’s always sitting on the fringes of my thoughts, the future for myself and family in this upside down world. I like your plan to consciously relate it to Lent though and totally agree.
