I wrote our MPs regarding the IHR Amendments and our Canadian Sovereignty being at risk. I received mostly automatic replies. I did however get some meat and potatoes.
Raquel appears knowledgeable that the amendments are occurring, although perhaps not the full consequences. BUT this was October… HOWEVER SHE IS ONE OF 4 RESPONSES AND MAYBE THE BEST.

“Thank you for reaching out to MP Raquel Dancho’s office regarding concerns about the World Health Organization and future pandemic measures. The World Health Assembly is not expected to have a draft report for an international agreement on pandemic prevention until 2023 and will not adopt the instrument until 2024. We will examine the recommendations of the INB and their draft report when it is submitted to the Assembly in 2024. Domestically, we need dependable domestic manufacturing capacity for personal protective equipment, treatments, and vaccines. We need to have functioning disease surveillance and testing that is able to rapidly respond to any emerging disease or outbreak. Parliament must study and scrutinize Canada's pandemic response so that we do not make the same mistakes in future pandemics. The devastation and hardship caused by lockdowns and vaccine mandates must also be studied so that Canadians know how these have impacted our society, as well as what can be done to avert these policies in the future. Conservatives strongly condemn how Justin Trudeau and the Liberal-NDP collation are using the pandemic response as a political wedge to divide Canadians. Every Canadian must be free to make their own informed decisions on their own personal medical matters. Conservatives have been a strong voice for lifting federal vaccine mandates and restrictions – bringing forward multiple motions in the House of Commons related to this issue. Unfortunately, the Liberal-NDP coalition dragged their feet on following the science and moving forward. Raquel and her Conservative colleagues will continue fighting for Canadians to make their own informed decisions and will work to ensure that Canada is adequately prepared for future pandemics. Conservatives believe that we must prioritize our sovereignty and autonomy on our own health decisions. “Bill C-293, the Pandemic Prevention and Preparedness Act, requires the Minister of Health to establish an advisory committee to review the response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada in order to reduce the risks associated with future pandemics and inform a pandemic prevention and preparedness plan.
It also requires the establishment, in consultation with other ministers, of a pandemic prevention and preparedness plan, which is to include information provided by those ministers. The plan will be required to adopt a One Health approach, which is a multisectoral and multidisciplinary collaborative approach that focuses on the human, animal, plant, and ecosystem health and welfare interface in addressing pandemic risk factors.
Finally, it amends the Department of Health Act to provide that the Minister of Health must appoint a national pandemic prevention and preparedness coordinator from among the officials of the Public Health Agency of Canada to coordinate the activities under the Pandemic Prevention and Preparedness Act.
UPDATE: On Feb 8, 2023, the bill was adopted at second reading and referred to the HESA committee for further study.
