I have like many of you such grief for the tragedies unfolding in Isreal and Palestine. Who isn't touched by the tragedies one unfolding after the other.
I don't understand how water can be cut off for 3 now 4 days and then anyone have the ability to move themselves and their children out of harms way. Let alone 1.1 million.
I don't think anyone (reasonable) can stand the Hammas attack. No one. Those who celebrate this I do not understand. The brutality horrified us all.
But nor can anyone reasonable stand the bombing of those who are in the way of bombs. Bombs are not targeted they are indiscriminate. So where criminals and terrorists need to be eliminated bombs will only do so if enough innocent people also die. That statistically is how it works. Also don't they risk hitting the hostages? I have been in touch with a dear Jewish friend living in Isreal from the outset and I hear the bombs in our calls.
Cutting water and power has a systematic most profound effect on the most vulnerable. Children elderly hospitalized and Ill. The least likely to have been the attackers that need finding and rounding up. So the choice of cutting water for days is a humanitarian crisis that is too blunt an instrument. Yes hamas will be thirsty along with hundreds of thousands who are not terrorists. How can you move 3 days without water especially in that climate.
What I see is that this tactic will create such hatred (if more can be endured I don't know) for Jews not responsible for the military response. Innocent Jews should not now face the backlash that will come for them. Seeing only one side and retreating in it in tribal fashion is not predictive.
It will create new terrorists and more hatred not just in Isreal and Palestine, but throughout the Middle East and beyond. Many are saying the response is becoming a new tragedy in its own right. Terrorism is not justified ever. Those with zeal to kill others are not humane. But denying the outcomes of actions is poor planning.
Netanyahu was facing leadership issues on the Supreme Court issue going into this. He is facing some criticism for having the best technology and trained army and not preventing the attack. Will he have criticism if his response is seen as Violating norms of acceptable response.
It will be new excuses to hurt law abiding citizens the world over. So many need are frightened at this possibility. I'm sad. New excuses for violence.
It may worse provoke WW3 with those who have nuclear abilities.
It is not safe to be Jewish now. But nor is it safe to be a Palestinian child in Palestine. The world is watching with such collective sorrow. There is no justice achieved unless Hamas pays the price. But making the innocent pay will start the next eye for an eye until the world is engulfed in retribution.
How is the retribution planned without looking at the next consequences.
I see support for Isreal and I see support for Palestine. Who needs mercy. Not terrorists. To say move to 1.1 million and expect they do so thirsty hungry weak and with children seems quite impossible. This too has an optics. The world watches with collective grief. Because no one can help heal Isreal or the new pain of innocent Palestinians. I'm so sad for both. I know we are expected to pick sides. Can anyone still side with the least amount of innocent people dying. Or is the reason you cannot because we are headed for escalation. I call for mercy. I call for prayers. I call for a miracle only our Good Lord can provide.
This attack on Israel could have been prevented, but Netanyahu's military was obviously told to stand down. They have the most sophisticated security system in the world, knew the attack was coming, and stood down. The Palestinian people are mostly women and children. The average age in Palestine is 17. This is who they are killing. Where is Hamas? They are nomads, infiltrating wherever they wish to gift with their jihad. They hide behind women and children, using them as human shields. Cowards. And the Israelis have always hated the Palestinians since Hitler sent millions of Jews to live in what is now Israel, back in 1933. The Palestinians were there first. In the beginning, they lived together in peace. Then hatred was instigated through manipulation and creation of Hamas, funded by Israel, in order to foment War. As for telling the Palestinians to "leave" ... they cannot leave through the exit to Egypt, it was blown up. That leaves Syria and Lebanon, where they are blocked from entering those countries, in spite of living in danger. Even if these exits were available to them, without food, water, electricity for days, they are weakened and living in fear. So they are sitting ducks and will be massacred. This is genocide and if we cannot stop this happening in Israel, it will be coming to a town near you, sooner than later. Humanity needs to rid itself of the world's corrupt organizations that have been creating/funding wars for millenia. Humanity needs an upgrade. This level of evil cannot be tolerated any longer. What can We The People do to remove them from power permanently?
Thank you for sharing your grief Lisa! Indeed we shouldn't pick sides because the people of Israel, nor the Palestines, nor any of us have caused this horrific murderous events; it is some one else, and that some one else has to be made visible now. It is a vile coward, a low creature, a most horrifically wounded child who when everything murdered and gone on this planet would say: ' Djee, is the game over? I still am not satisfied!' All this is too unbearable to take in and at the same time, it is the most idiotic behaviour we have encountered in human histories.
